Tachibana Muneshige is a non-playable character introduced in Sengoku BASARA 3, and becomes playable in it's expansion, Sengoku BASARA 3 Utage. He fights alongside his lord, Ōtomo Sōrin the side of Ishida Mitsunari against the forces of Tokugawa Ieyasu. He wields two chainsaws in battle. It is shown that even though his lord Otomo Sorin is a devout follower of Xavism, Muneshige is worried about his fellow warriors as they have all been deluded into becoming part of Xavi's cult. He even tells the player to be wary of the cult, although he fights alongside them. Muneshige doesn't seem to follow Xavism. He is married and seems afraid of his apparently estranged wife, but thinks about her often since she left. Tsuruhime refers to Muneshige as the Thunder King. He will endlessly chase the player around Ōtomo's castle unless a bridge has pictures of Sōrin and Xavi together, as he refuses to step on the image of his lord's face.
On an interesting note, should the player choose to fight against him, he will at one point say that the player should "come quietly and convert to Xavism," which is odd considering that he is not an advocate of the religion. In the Xavism Congregation, Muneshige will be inside the castle instead of chasing the player. When he introduces himself, Ōtomo Sōrin will interrupt using loudspeakers and changes his name into Gallop Tachibana. Though he hates it, he will still accept the name as a sign of his loyalty.
Tachibana Muneshige is one of few, rather slow moving characters. His 8 hit attack considered as the second slowest after Kuroda Kanbei. He doesn't have a decent range attack, or a good attack speed but every of his succesful hit will pack a great amount of damage and a decent hitter as well due to his multi-hit features of his Chainsaw.
Most of Muneshige skills consist of charging attack, and need to hold the execution button for more hits, but took longer recovery. He is not that good when it comes to Hero combat, but shown to be extremely powerful against horde of enemies and capable to wipe them out quickly.
He does considered as Heavy character, same as Toyotomi Hideyoshi (Sengoku Basara 4) or Kuroda Kanbei. Means that he is immune to impact attack and cannot be thrown to the air. But still vulnerable to grappling attack.
- Skill 1: Muneshige enhances his Lightning Edge with the power of lightning, making him a harder obstacle for players fighting him.
- Skill 2: Munehsige shields himself for a short period before he runs forward cutting down anyone in his path. Should he reach you, Muneshige first sticks his chainsaws inside you before splitting them apart and doing massive damage to you.
- Basara: Muneshige implants his Lightning Edge in the ground then runs along it, trying to get a hit on you. He then sends some Lightning shockwaves in all directions to electrocute you.
Tachibana Muneshige (立花 宗茂) (December 18, 1567 - November 15, 1643), known in his youth as Senkumaru and alternatively called Tachibana Munetora, was a samurai during the Azuchi–Momoyama period and a Edo Period daimyo. He was the eldest biological son of Takahashi Shigetane, a retainer of Ōtomo clan. He was adopted by Tachibana Dōsetsu, later married his daughter Tachibana Ginchiyo, succeeding the Tachibana clan.
He was skilled with tactical warfare, the traditional arts, and known for his benevolence. He was heralded as a man who braved many changes in his life. Tachibana Muneshige died at the age of 75 in 1643.
