Tsuruhime is a character newly featured in Sengoku BASARA 3. Seer with the power of prophecy. Raised as a miko of Kono. Doesn't know the evils of the world since she spent her whole life tucked away in Kono. Left to go protect her home and its neighboring seas that have been affected by the war.
Historical informationEdit
Although historically she lived in the pre-Nobunaga Sengoku era (1526-1543), she was famous as a female archer who led the Mishima navy which served the Kono clan of Iyo, Shikoku. Tsuruhime was from Ohmishima, Ehime Prefecture. She was married into the Ôuchi family and fought together with her brother and husband on the field. When she was sixteen, she defeated Minamoto no Mitsusue (Minamoto no Tsunemoto's third son) in a duel. Two years later, her family was caught off guard and defeat was inevitable. Rather than flee or surrender, she chose to honor her loved ones by committing ritual suicide. Her last words were: "with Mishima's ocean as my witness, my love shall be engraved with my name."

TriviaEdit
- Oda Nobunaga also had a daughter named Tsuruhime. She was married to Nakagawa Hidemasa.
- Tsuruhime was also the name of Hojo Ujiyasu's 8th daughter, and a sister of Hojo Ujimasa.
